Three news notices from Svenska kraftnät in the weekly series “Utredning av mFRR-priser”, in which Svk reviews published mFRR prices to find quarter-hours where the price should be adjusted after the fact, “in line with the work to improve the market’s function and create a more stable price picture”. They belong to a weekly series of well over sixty notices that Svk published from spring 2025 to June 2026 (its hub page lists 75 items including related announcements); this page covers two of them from winter 2025/26 plus the same-day update to the second. The programme as a whole (112 adjusted quarter-hours between April 2025 and June 2026, ended in June 2026) is covered in Source - Svk Obalanspris Manuella Justeringar Upphör (2026).
18–27 December 2025 (posted 29 December 2025)
- Outcome: the period was analysed and no adjustment will be made.
- Svk’s explanation of the high imbalance prices in the period: at times large imbalances and a large need for up-regulation; at some of these times, cheap resources in northern Sweden were locked in because the grid was already fully used; the grid was heavily loaded in periods, which required actions to keep flows within operational-security limits; and on some days a clear reduction in total up-regulation bid volume. Different combinations of these led to a number of quarter-hours with very high imbalance prices.
- More analysis was to be presented in the mFRR monthly report coming in January 2026; the next period reviewed was 28 December 2025–4 January 2026, with the result due on 8 January 2026.
12–18 January 2026 (posted 22 January 2026, 08:01)
- The period was analysed and further analysis was ongoing for the quarter 17:45–18:00 on 13 January. Apart from that quarter no other adjustment would be made.
- The next period reviewed was 19–25 January 2026, with the result due on 29 January.
Update for 13 January (posted 22 January 2026, 14:01)
- One quarter-hour was adjusted, because “illogical bid choices” in the algorithm had affected the calculation of the marginal price. The adjustment was coordinated across the Nordics, and the underlying cause was to be investigated further.
| 13 January 2026, 17:45–18:00 | SE1 | SE2 | SE3 | SE4 |

Reading the notices with care
- These are short notices; they state outcomes and Svk’s reasons, not the quarter-hour data behind them. Whether the 18–27 December analysis was in fact presented in the January monthly report is addressed on Source - Svk Månadsrapport Balansmarknader Januari 2026 (it was not as a separate analysis).
- The notices give prices only as “EUR”, without stating a unit.
- Svk’s wording on 13 January (“illogical bid choices in the algorithm”) is the same kind of problem the November 2025 algorithm fix addressed (Swedish Balancing Market Prices and Volumes › Scarcity events — when the bid stack runs out), so it shows illogical-bid effects continued after that fix.
